Just Keep Writing.... Just Keep Writing

Well, you saw my last blog post about how I wrote an entire manuscript in 24 days. What you REALLY wanted to know, what how much time I spent physically writing.
If you've read my previous blog posts, you know that I stick to a to-do list each day. If I say I'm going to write one chapter, then I stop after that chapter. If I say I'm going to write two chapters and plan my epilogue, that's what I do. Each day can hold multiple writing sessions that are made up of about an hour each, or I can binge write for an entire day and spent six hours writing. My schedule varies, so I don't ever have a set amount of time that I dedicate to it.
With my first book (now complete), I would say that I averaged about four hours each day, non-stop, working on it. I was hardcore dedicated and determined to get it completed and out for the world to see. When it comes time for book two of this trilogy, I will most likely follow the exact same process.
The issue I face is mainly dealing with distractions. Having to make sure my phone is on silent and my social media pages aren't up in my tabs. Otherwise I have to constantly remind myself (in a Dory voice) to "just keep writinnggg, just keep writinnnggg".
Setting goals for myself is something that I rely on. In my world, if I don't have a deadline or I don't have an end goal - the task will never get done. If I say, "hey world, I'm publishing this book in October" then I know I have a mission to accomplish and I bust my tail to make sure I follow through.
Funny fact about me- I was never one to finish the things I started. I'm not sure what switch was flipped, but I'm loving ever minute of it. Waking up each day excited to work on my book is a high that I have NEVER experienced before... and yes, I've experienced a few.
Annnyyywwaaayyy... I'm glad that I've started this journey with writing and I can't wait to see where it takes me. I only took a few minutes out of my day to prep this blog post, so I gotta jump back over and continue my editing. LOTS on my plate :)
Thanks for stopping by! Please jump over and sign the guestbook to let me know you were here!
